Athens Creative Theatre
.
Art imitating life, TA Powell resides in a small community
and does extraordinary things finding inspiration and humor in
her everyday activities.
In addition to her animated writing, TA Powell has performed in
community theater having major roles in “Peter Pan”, "Annie",
"Fiddler on the Roof" and many more. Her directorial debut was
in concert with the first performance of the play “Get a Clue,
Better Yet, Get a Reason… (A Fairy Tale Homicide)” followed by
another premiere performance of the comedy, “The Gilded Turkey."
TA Powell was active as a Board Member of The Athens Little
Playhouse Theatre and is the former Executive Vice President of
the Board of Directors of the Athens Creative Theatre where she
is the Director. In addition to her experience in both backstage
and on stage management as well as an author, director and
actress…she has provided technical advice for light and sound,
set design and props.
Ms. Powell was born in a small Midwestern town; Burlington,
Iowa; in 1958 and is the 7th of 10
children born to Catholic parents. Her strong Catholic
upbringing and her wonderful marriage to her Jewish husband
as well as her 3 children have provided her fertile ground
for humility based humor and finding the hilarity in the
normalcy of everyday life. Yes, it is true; Erma Bombeck had
a great deal of influence on her and is her heroine!
TA Powell resides in a modest home in Athens, GA with her
husband and three very talented and entertaining daughters.
Her company, TAP Household Collaborations is comprised of
her family members and her very close friend and confidant,
Dr. Sandi McRae Huszagh.
Her oldest daughter is an accomplished actress, artist and
cartoonist. She is responsible for generating title cover
design, advertisements for publications, promotional
materials and an occasional cartoon. She is attending a
prestigious women's college on a scholastic scholarship and
a theater scholarship.
Her middle daughter, Kate, is also a very
talented actress, singer and musician. Her contribution to
this
company has been mostly related to composing music scores
for the original plays written by her mother. Of course, she
prefers being in her studio where she rehearses her music
and writes her lyrics. She can be heard on her website,
www.myspace.com/kpofosho and
by clicking on the links to her recordings.
The youngest daughter, Megan, is also an accomplished
actress and provides continual inspiration and support to
this family based cottage industry. Her other interests
include gymnastics, cooking and spending time with Dad. Her
debut leading role as Mortimer in "The Fantastiks" performed
by her high school drama group was hysterical!
TA's “partner in crime” and husband of many years, provides
moral support and Internet Technology expertise. Once in a
while, he too provides inspiration.
